We are celebrating our second anniversary at the gallery. We have our Expat Collection of UK artists on sale. Come in to the gallery this month and see the great works we have by talented artists from Britain. We have paintings done in oil, acrylic, and watercolour and in a wonderful variety of subjects. Come see your favourite London landmark or a ocean spray in Cornwall. Come celebrate with us for the month of April!

Tanakiwin: Home and Native Land

Rational Expressions Gallery is very pleased to announce that Alfred Villeneuve will have a solo show of works in July. Alfred says :

“Living and working in the same locale where I was born and raised (Madawaska & Ottawa Valleys, Algonquin Park Region), has granted me a familiarity with the land; a painterly intimacy; sensitive to its faintest change or movement.  My Father’s ancestors (Kichisippirini-Algonquin) regarded this area as “Tanakiwin” (homeland), and it still boasts what visitors might call-‘pristine wilderness.’”

We have images of some plein air pieces that will be part of the show. Save the date – Opening Reception is Saturday July 8th at 2pm.

Stayner Urban Sketchers

***  Please note, we will not be meeting on May 1st. We meet on Monday mornings at the gallery. We start at 10am. If you would like to join us, please do!  There is more to sketch in small town Ontario than you may think. Now that the weather is cold we will sketch indoors. Come to 7252 Hwy 26 in Stayner. Lots of free parking.

All levels welcome! This group promotes sketching in our environment. We are here to encourage and support one another. Awaken the artist within. If you have never done anything like this before, all you need is paper and a pencil. Only draw stick people – good! Start with that. Wake that artist up – we aren’t far away from plein air weather.
